New Believers, Studying.
by cupcakekourtney88 inhey y'all!
my name is kourtney and i am new to this form and jehovah witnesses.

You seem to say
but my sister tells me I am not aloud to..
quite often. If your serious about going further with Jehovahs witnesses, then you'd better get used to hearing that. As Murray Smith said, many of us were JWs for 20,30, 40 years. We'll be happy to share our experiences with you, but then its your decision in the end, and everyone here will respect that.
Good luck ( oh, am I allowed to say that?)

Just wanted to say thanks for all your welcomes, and for the advice too. I'm looking into that.
I think that this is the first time in my life that I've spoken with EX Jdubs. Its really NOT that bad. I think they lied to me.

April 2011 Awake page 27: Abuse ignored because of misguide loyalty....
by NVR2L8 ini rarely look at any wt publications anymore, but under watching the world, april 2011 awake quotes a newspaper article that blames the covering of sexual abuse on the misguided loyalty to the absolute authority of the catholic church.
i couldn't help thinking of the many cases of child abuse amongst jws that have been swept under the rug for the exact same reason - the absolute authority of the fds!
they have no shame pointing their finger at others when in fact they are as bad...if not worse in mistreating the victims of abuse.

I've just heard of a child abuse case. The person wasnt disfellowshipped but they did have a "strong talk" at the assembly. Personally, I'd have prefered to atomise his body and disperse it to the four corners of the universe......................
but unfortunately, you haven't discovered that technology yet.

Sorry to hear of your illness Snowbird, but it sounds as if your positive about things. Well done. People all over the world are thinking about you.
I personnally have never ever regretted getting out from the sect. I've discovered that the world is full of nice people and it has been a pleasure to have got to spend some time with them.
I joined this board, only a few days ago, because for me ( as for many others), the difficult thing is not having contact with my family. But then, I was thinking last night, the ONLY thing which they talk about is their religion. In reality, we have nothing in common to talk about, nothing to say, nothing to do, not even a spark of genuine love, as our eyes meet. If I have to move on, its moving on from my family, not from the Borg, who are long since dead and buried.

Moving 1000 miles in 28 days need suggestions
by TotallyADD inas many know my wife and i will be moving and starting a new business this summer.
in many ways it will bring freedom to us for no one knows us where we are moving.
being a born-in i would like to ask all of you what are some great ways we can meet new people and make friendships outside the jw cult?

I did the same thing. It really is a breath of fresh air, not being "known".
Just be natural, as far as making friends is concerned. Personnally, our closest friends were met though our son, through his sports club friends etc. At get togethers, we met up with some their parents, and found that we got on well. Then it was outings together, bbq's etc. etc.

Adam was by himself for 35 1/2 years and counting....
by dozy inaccording to jw bible chronology , adam was created some 6000 years before 1975 & as armageddon hasn't arrived yet , he has been alone for all the equivalent years since then (despite the wtbts claiming that adam was only on his own for just a few weeks or months.).
luckily as a perfect man , he had no sexual desires.... .
adam felt no desires of sex.

I remember them saying " Adam has already been alone for TWO years" Wow!

Being Turned In By Family
by SlipnSlide ini have read a lot of posts regarding spouses turning the other in to the jw police.
if it happened to me, i don't think that i could forgive my husband if he did this.
i would never do this to any member of my family, especially my husband.

Unfortunately the JWs will always turn family members against one another. We will never change that.
The only hope for us is that certain of our loved ones will realise and have the strength to leave. It is not for us to change ( in fact we already have done) but them. Only then will we really be able to catch up on lost time and enjoy life to the full.
Remember this definition of Borg from wikipedia:
"the Borg voluntarily submit to cybernetic enhancement as a means of achieving what they believe to be perfection (they also force their idea of perfection on others). "
